{"id":792,"date":"2025-02-21T02:37:25","date_gmt":"2025-02-21T02:37:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fmidnight.com\/gourmet\/?p=792"},"modified":"2025-10-05T17:51:24","modified_gmt":"2025-10-05T17:51:24","slug":"cha-yen-thai-iced-tea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fmidnight.com\/gourmet\/cha-yen-thai-iced-tea\/","title":{"rendered":"Cha Yen (Thai Iced Tea)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Makes 4 <\/em>drinks<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ingredients<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>1 cup or 10 teabags asam tea<br>6 cups boiling water<br>1\/4 cup brown sugar<br>1\/8 tsp kosher salt<br>2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk<br>1 can evaporated milk<br>ice as needed<br>12 drops yellow food coloring (optional)<br>1 drop red food coloring (optional)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Procedure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Bring water to a full boil at 212F.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Steep tea in a large bowl for 15 min &#8211; 2 hrs. Also stir to dissolve the salt and sugar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once steeped, add sweetened condensed milk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For each drink, fill to the brim with ice, add 1 cup tea base, and finish with 1-3 tbsp of evaporated milk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To be fancy, poke 2 holes on each side of the can and pour the condensed milk over top just before serving.
